Hello –
Welcome to my website! I currently teach fourth grade at Cherry Hill Elementary School in River Edge, New Jersey. I have lived in Bergen County all of my life and this is my 11th year teaching. I enjoy teaching at the elementary level, and I find great satisfaction watching my students grow and develop throughout the school year. I previously taught for three years at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in Northvale, New Jersey before coming to River Edge in September of 2006.
I am a graduate of William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature (1997) and a Master of Arts Degree in Elementary Education (2005). Most recently I have completed an additional 30 graduate credits in education from North Dakota State University. While attending college, I received three academic scholarships, two for my undergraduate degree and one for my graduate work. I enjoy taking professional development classes each fall through River Edge’s Learning Academy and attend numerous professional development opportunities throughout the school year. I have participated in tri-district curriculum development in the areas of social studies, math, and science. Taking classes and learning new things which benefit my students are a passion. I am a lifelong student and will always be learning something new through professional development!
My interests outside of school include spending time with my family, walking for exercise, and hiking at the Ramapo Reservation in Mahwah. You can also find me exploring the celery fields in Allendale or walking the trails at the Wyckoff Wildlife Center. I enjoy attending my children’s sporting events, relaxing at the town pool, gardening, reading, traveling, and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers play on Sundays. Go Black and Yellow! To get to know me a little more, here are some of my favorites:
Color: Blue
Season: summer
Book: A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
Food: Pizza
Ice Cream: Light Chocolate Chip Mint
Quote: Nobody is perfect!
Website: BCCLS (Bergen County Cooperative Library System)
My only true dislike is cold, snowy weather! Now that you have learned a bit about me, I am looking forward to learning more about each and every one of my new students! September is right around the corner, and I am eager to start the new school year!
Thanks for stopping by my website.
Regards,
Mrs. Poole
